DailyRite provides a personalized daily briefing through our website at dailyrite.org/briefing (including installable web app / PWA). An optional browser extension may also be available; it is not required to use the Service. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. 1. Information we collect

Account information

• Email address — from Google sign-in or email/password registration.
• Authentication data — a hashed password (only if you register with email/password) and the session or token data that keeps you signed in.

Preferences you provide

• Topics, sports leagues, and learning tracks you select.
• Approximate location (city, state, and/or ZIP) used for weather and regional news.
• Time zone, tone, edition, and other briefing settings.

Content we generate

• Your daily briefings and lessons, cached temporarily to serve them quickly (see Retention).
• Operational metadata such as generation cost and error/correlation IDs.
• Logs of the AI requests and responses used to assemble briefings and lessons — these can include your selected topics and settings and, for connected calendars, the short agenda summary (never raw calendar events). We keep them for quality assurance, cost accounting, and debugging.

Error reports you submit

• If you use the “Report an error” control on a news story, we record the report so we can review it and improve accuracy. A report includes which story you flagged (its section, headline, and source link), the date and edition of your briefing, the problem category you chose, any optional free-text note you add, and your account identity (so we can follow up and prevent duplicate or abusive reports). You can only report a story that appeared in your own briefing.
• When several different readers report the same story, it may be automatically hidden from the rest of that day’s briefings while we review it. We also publish a public corrections page describing significant errors we have identified; those entries do not identify the reader who reported them.

Google Calendar (Pro, optional)

If you connect Google Calendar, we read your primary calendar’s events for the current day to produce a short agenda summary. We do not store your event details — they are summarized for that briefing and discarded. Access tokens are stored encrypted and can be revoked at any time by disconnecting.

DailyRite’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs (Google Calendar) will adhere to the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. In particular, we do not use Google user data — raw, aggregated, or derived — to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.

2. How we use information

• To generate and deliver your personalized briefings and lessons.
• To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
• To process subscription payments and manage your account.
• To communicate with you about your account or the service (including optional web push notifications and Pro briefing emails you enable).

3. Service providers we share with

We share the minimum data necessary with the processors below. We do not sell your personal information. AI and search API calls are made only on our servers — we do not put provider API keys in your browser.

The specific AI provider we use to generate summaries may change over time as we evaluate quality and cost; when it does, we update this list. In all cases these calls are made only on our servers, and we do not send AI providers your account identifiers.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

4. Payment information

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe’s handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy.

5. Cookies and local storage

• Website: a session cookie and a CSRF cookie, required to sign in and use the dashboard securely.
• Web briefing (PWA): your browser may cache pages and static assets via our service worker for offline viewing; section read-state may be stored in localStorage on your device.
• Extension (optional): if you use the DailyRite browser extension, your authentication token and cached briefing are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local or equivalent).

We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use Cloudflare’s privacy-friendly Web Analytics to understand aggregate site usage; it measures visits without cookies and without tracking you across other sites.

6. Sponsored content on the free tier

Free-tier briefings may include one clearly labeled sponsored or promotional card. Here is how that works from a privacy standpoint:

• Served by us, not an ad network. The card’s text and link come from our own servers. We do not use third-party advertising networks, advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies.
• No personal targeting. Cards are scheduled by us on a rotation. Selection does not use your personal information — the only thing that determines whether the slot appears is whether your account is on the free tier.
• Nothing shared with sponsors. We do not give sponsors your personal information. If a sponsor’s card includes an image hosted by the sponsor, your browser loads that image directly from the sponsor’s server, which (like any web request) receives your IP address and standard browser information.
• Leaving our site. Clicking a sponsored link takes you to the sponsor’s website, which is governed by that site’s own privacy policy. Some sponsored links may be affiliate links.

Pro briefings do not include sponsored cards.

7. Data retention

• Cached briefings are deleted after about 7 days; cached lessons after about 30 days.
• Your account and preferences are kept until you delete your account.
• Aggregate operational metrics (e.g., generation cost) may be retained for analytics.
• External API call logs (which contain no personal identifiers) are deleted after about 30 days; connected-service audit events after about 90 days.
• AI request/response logs (Section 1) are deleted after about 90 days, or immediately when you delete your account. Aggregate cost figures (no prompt text) may be kept longer.
• News error reports you submit are retained until you delete your account, so we can track recurring problems and corrections; deleting your account removes them.

8. Your choices and rights

• Access & correction: view and edit your preferences anytime on the dashboard.
• Deletion: deleting your account removes your profile, briefings, lessons, and connected services; it also cancels any active subscription and revokes connected Google tokens.
• Calendar: disconnect Google Calendar at any time to revoke access.
• Email & push: any user can turn off web push in the dashboard; Pro users can also turn off briefing email there. Marketing emails are not sent today.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (e.g., under GDPR or CCPA) to access, port, or delete your data, or to object to processing. Contact us to exercise them.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, encrypt stored third-party tokens, redact secrets from logs, and apply standard access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.

10. Children

DailyRite is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, additional notice.
